Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

This session will present the results of exploratory research conducted in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa to create a better understanding of the experiences of preservice teachers in school libraries during their own K-12 education as well as during their practicum placements. Presenters will explore the range of experiences and perceptions that preservice teachers have in relation to school libraries and how these experiences might influence their own teaching and their time in the Bachelor of Education program. We hope to highlight the connections between participants’ K-12 school library experiences, practicum experiences, and the academic instruction in the Faculty of Education. The presenters hope to use the data collected to inform information literacy instruction in the Faculty of Education and to promote preservice teachers’ awareness of school libraries. The University of Ottawa is a bilingual institution and as such data has been collected in both French and English. Bilingual questions and discussion will follow the session.
